Common questions from North Point
Can a damaged tooth usually be saved?
More often than patients expect. Root canal therapy followed by a crown can restore a tooth that feels beyond repair, and we will show you the radiograph and talk through the options. Extraction is recommended only when the tooth or its supporting bone cannot be restored.
How do you decide between a filling and a crown?
It comes down to how much healthy tooth structure remains. A filling works well when the surrounding tooth is still strong, while a crown protects a tooth that has been significantly weakened or cracked. We will show you the area on screen and explain which approach gives the tooth the best long-term outlook.
My gums bleed when I brush. Should I be concerned?
Bleeding gums are the earliest sign of gum disease, and at this stage it responds very well to treatment. A deep cleaning removes bacteria below the gumline and allows the tissue to heal. Treated early, it rarely progresses any further.
How often should I schedule cleanings?
Twice a year suits most patients. If you have a history of gum treatment or build up tartar quickly, we may suggest every three or four months, and we will always explain the reason behind the recommendation.
